李家謙生於香港，畢業於香港演藝學院獲音樂碩士，雙主修二胡及高胡，為香港活躍胡琴演奏家。李氏現任香港演藝學院及香港教育大學二胡導師、一才鑼鼓客席樂師，曾任香港音樂事務處助理音樂主任、香港女青中樂團及九龍青年中樂團指揮、香港演藝學院中樂團及香港女青中樂團首席，現以自由身音樂人身分活躍於不同類型藝術活動。李氏演奏手法糅合現代與傳統，除了傳統中樂及粵樂南音，亦擅長演繹流行音樂、西樂改編作品及現代音樂。
總結學習生涯，李氏先後隨彭銳聲、霍世潔、余其偉、陳耀星及黃安源學習不同種類胡琴，並隨何文川學習指揮；就讀香港演藝學院期間獲頒多項獎學金，包括Music First / 李雲迪獎學金、演藝學院友誼社獎學金，及兩度獲頒發匯豐銀行獎學金，多次遠赴北京隨陳耀星深造二胡演奏，並於2010年獲香港國際胡琴團體展演邀請賽一等獎。香港演藝學院音樂學院出版的《粵樂薪傳》唱片，收錄李氏演奏之二胡獨奏《流水行雲》及傳統粵樂《昭君怨》；《華韻新章》唱片，收錄其演奏之椰胡獨奏《絲絲淚‧三疊愁》。
李氏曾與多位著名指揮家、作曲家合作，於多個音樂會擔任獨奏演出，重要演出包括：2009年與指揮家何文川合作演出椰胡與樂隊《絲絲淚．三疊愁》、2010年與作曲及指揮家何占豪合作演出高胡協奏曲《梁山伯與祝英台》、2012年與指揮家夏飛雲合作演出二胡協奏曲《紅梅隨想曲》、2014年與指揮家洪俠合作演出高胡協奏曲《魚尾獅傳奇》、2014年與薩克斯管演奏家孫穎麟合辦《光影歲月》音樂會、2016年舉辦《李家謙二胡與高胡音樂碩士畢業演奏會》，同年舉辦《李家謙與好友胡琴演奏會》，演出獲一致好評。
作為胡琴獨奏家，李氏曾獲香港貿易發展局邀請，代表香港演藝學院出訪比利時、荷蘭、德國、奧地利及新加坡等地巡迴演出；又獲香港駐悉尼經濟貿易辦事處邀請，以指揮家身分於澳洲墨爾本演奏中心，指揮香港女青中樂團及墨爾本肇風中樂團成功演出《雙韻迎雙慶]》音樂會。此外李氏曾任香港聯校音樂大賽比賽評判，並積極參與香村音樂節、香港博物館節、不貧窮藝術節、音樂國際日等本地藝術演出。
除了中樂演出，李氏自2017年起涉獵南音及戲曲拍和，演出椰胡、秦琴及三弦等樂器。近年以客席樂師身份參與一才鑼鼓《南音遊記 – 行到邊．唱到邊》香港18區巡演，並獲非物質文化遺產辦事處邀請參與《香港周2023@曼谷》南音演出；參與桃花源粵劇工作舍《帝女花》65周年香港及澳門演出、《香港微音樂》及《講下嘢，唱下歌：南音有聲書》錄音等。
李氏亦經常參與跨媒體演出，包括參與《Summer Blues林家謙演唱會》、香港亞青樂集《激越》多媒體音樂會、香港舞蹈團與桃花源粵劇工作舍《紫玉成煙》舞蹈劇場、劇場空間《夢綣塘西》音樂劇，多次參與探戈音樂演奏會及探戈舞蹈節演出，並獲香港迪士尼邀請擔任演出及錄音工作。李氏近年亦多次應邀於不同媒體作演出嘉賓及訪問，包括：ViuTV節目《Chill Club》、《創文館》、《ViuChat》、香港電台第二台節目《騷動音樂》、香港電台第四台節目《自投羅網》、港台電視節目《日常八點半》、《演藝盛薈．開放舞台》、《藝坊星期天》、無綫電視節目《文化廣場》、《文化新領域》及信報《人言人語》人物專訪。
As an active Erhu musician, Nero Lee Ka-him was born in Hong Kong and graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with a Master of Music degree, double majoring in Erhu and Gaohu. Nero currently serves as an Erhu instructor at the HKAPA and the Education University of Hong Kong. He is also a guest musician for the Gong Strikes One. He has previously served as Assistant Music Officer at the Music Office, Conductor for both the Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra (HKYWCACO) and Kowloon Youth Chinese Orchestra, and the Concertmaster for both the HKAPA Chinese Orchestra and the HKYWCACO. Nero is actively engaged in abundant art-related activities as an independent musician. His music distills the very essence from traditional and modern. Besides traditional Chinese music and Cantonese music Nanyin, Pop music, rearranged Western pieces, Modern music are all his specialties.
Throughout his academic journey, Nero studied various types of Huqin with prominent performers including Pang Yui-sing, Hou Shin-chieh, Yu Qiwei, Chen Yaoxing, and Wong On-yuen. He also advanced his profession in conducting through learning from Ho Man-chuen. He was a recipient of multiple scholarships while studying at the HKAPA, including Music First / Li Yun-di Scholarship, The Society of APA Scholarship, and The Hongkong Bank Foundation Hong Kong-Mainland Exchange Scholarships for twice. He traveled to Beijing several times to advance his Erhu studies under Chen Yaoxing. He also won the First Prize at the Hong Kong 2010 – International Chinese Huqin Ensemble Exhibition Invitational. Nero’s solo performances are featured on the HKAPA Music School’s albums, including “The Heritage of Cantonese Music,” which includes his Erhu solo “Flowing Water with Drifting Clouds” and traditional Cantonese music “Zhaojun Yuan.” Another album, “A New Chapter of Chinese Musical Sounds,” features his performance of Yehu solo “Streaks of Tears and Threefold Sorrows.”
As a Huqin soloist, Nero has collaborated with well-known conductors and composers. Significant performances include: Yehu and Orchestra “Streaks of Tears and Threefold Sorrows” conducted by Ho Man-chuen (2009); Gaohu concerto “The Butterfly Lovers” conducted by the composer He Zhanhao (2010); Erhu concerto “Red Plum Capriccio” conducted by Xia Feiyun (2012); Gaohu concerto “Legend of the Merlion” conducted by Hong Xia (2014); “The Years of Lights and Shadows in Hong Kong” concert with Saxophonist Timothy Sun(2014); “Master of Music Graduation Recital by Lee Ka-him (Erhu & Gohu)” concert (2016) and “Nero & Friends” concert (2016)."
Nero has represented the HKAPA in tours to Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Singapore as an Erhu soloist, invited by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office. He also conducted the HKYWCACO and the Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra in the ‘HK20 & Chao Feng 35’ concert at the Melbourne Recital Centre in Australia (2018), invited by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney. Additionally, Nero has served as the judge for the Hong Kong Joint School Music Competition and actively participated in various local arts performances, such as the Fragrant Village Music Festival, the Muse Fest HK, the Let’s Be Together Arts Festival, and the Music in town – Music Geographic, to name a few.
Apart from Chinese music performances, Nero has explored traditional accompaniment of Nanyin and Xiqu, performing on instruments such as Yehu, Qinqin, and Sanxian since 2017. In recent years, he has been a guest musician in The Gong Strikes One’s “Singing Nanyin as We Go” tour across all 18 districts of Hong Kong, and was invited by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office to participate in the Nanyin performance at “Hong Kong Week 2023@Bangkok.” Nero has also participated in various productions, including the performances of “Florial Princess 65th Anniversary” in Hong Kong and Macau, by Utopia Cantonese Opera Workshop, as well as recordings for “Hong Kong Music Miniatures” and “Nanyin Audiobook.”
Nero frequently engages in cross-media performances, participating in events such as the “Summer Blues Terence Lam Live in Hong Kong Coliseum,” Hong Kong Asian Young Musicians Collection’s “Innovation from Traditional” multimedia concert, Hong Kong Dance Company and Utopia Chinese Opera Workshop’s “Waiting Heart” dance theatre, and the musical “Westside Twirling Dream” by Theatre Space. Nero has also been part of several tango concerts and dance festivals, and has been invited by Hong Kong Disneyland for performances and recording work. In recent years, he has been invited to appear as a performer and interviewee on various media platforms, including ViuTV programs “Chill Club,” “Creative Club,” and “ViuChat,” RTHK programs like RTHK2’s “Musicinaction,” RTHK4’s “Cantilena,” and RTHK TV’s “830 Mag,” “Arts on Air – Open Stage,” “The Works,” TVB programs “Cultural Plaza,” “Cultural Engine 4U,” as well as a feature interview in Hong Kong Economic Journal.
